Hydraulic lifts

Hydraulic elevators utilise an electric pump which pushes hydraulic fluid into a cylinder and works using pressure on a piston which then makes the lift rise. On descent, the fluid returns to its reservoir. Hydraulic lifts can be very quiet due to the hydraulic fluids, and they are also good for use if there are low-hanging ceilings as the lift’s equipment is in a separate room, so the cab requires minimal space.
Traction lifts
An alternative to hydraulic lifts is the traction lift. They can be geared or gearless and they include machine-room-less designs, which means you don’t need additional space for an extra room to house the motor and related equipment. They operate within the elevator shaft. Relying on counterweights for their operation, they are very energy efficient in their use of electricity.
